Several male celebrities have been lit up with sexual misconduct allegations in the past few months, but not everyone deserves to go up in flames with the likes of uber-predators Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey.

Namely, Al Franken, who has received a letter of support from dozens of female Saturday Night Live staffers amid the recent allegations that have come out against the Democratic senator.

The letter, signed by 36 former writers, production assistants, costume designers, and cast members, did not condone Franken’s actions toward Leeann Tweeden, who accused him of kissing and groping her without consent on a 2006 USO tour. In fact, the former cast and crew members were quick to call his actions “stupid and foolish.”

But the letter, published in Tuesday’s Star Tribune, also made sure to state that Franken was nothing but commendable during his time on the show, where he treated every woman (or at least every signatory) “with the utmost respect and regard.”

While the message of support does not mention the more recent allegations made against the Senator, the 36 women stated unequivocally that “not one of us ever experienced any inappropriate behavior” from Franken during his SNL days, adding:

“In our experience, we know Al as a devoted and dedicated family man, a wonderful comedic performer, and an honorable public servant.”

Well, good to know he didn’t act like an immature creep at work — he reserved that behavior for USO tours and state fairs!
