Master of None star Aziz Ansari seems to be the absolute master of humility.
It was no surprise that his hit Netflix comedy garnered him a nod for Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical, or Comedy, but competition was tough. Rivals included Rob Lowe, Patrick Stewart, Jeffrey Tambor, and ultimate winner Gael García Bernal.
The Parks and Rec star had a contingency plan.
After the announcement was made, NBC cut away to a very studious Ansari; he just so happened to have delved into a little light reading.
Master of None is just one of the mega-popular Netflix originals released in 2015. Other hit shows include Jessica Jones, Bloodline, Narcos, Making a Murderer, and Sense8.
Ansari’s show itself has been described as something like “the first millennial comedy.” Its dry approach to addressing relevant issues like race, intimacy, and gender resonates with the 18-25s, only moderately bitter and remotely depressing.
Season one of Master of None is available to stream on Netflix now. A second season has not yet been confirmed.
