Lady Gaga Was the Perfect Person to Pay Tribute to David Bowie at the Grammys

Lady Gaga’s Grammy night tribute to the late David Bowie was beautiful, but it was her fervor, fan status, and renowned eccentricity that made it truly matter.

Performing a mashup of classic Bowie hits “Changes,” “Rebel Rebel,” “Shake It,” “Fame,” and “Let’s Dance,” the powerful show ended out with the incredibly apt “Heroes.”

The star has been open in her respect and admiration for Bowie, and it showed on Monday: in addition to belting out each of the legend’s songs with ease, she mimicked his unique dance moves as though they were her own. Bowie producer Nile Rodgers also played guitar alongside the songstress, in what might be considered the ultimate homage.

Earlier in the night, she shared her emotionally charged costume preparation via her Instagram audience:

The world loves you David.

From her voice to her movements to her style, Gaga effectively did everything she could to honor her hero; she cared about the recognition she was inciting.

In this way, there’s no one who could have rocked it better.
