On Tuesday, FX CEO John Landgraf dropped the aggressively casual bomb that of all the American Horror Story season 6 teasers we’ve seen, only one is legitimately related to the show.
As a quick reminder, those teasers include a smoky farm house, a creepy green-eyed family, aggressive demon hands popping out a dark stair well, the baby crib for butchers, a blonde woman with an insect hanging out on her head, and some bald guy getting his own head stapled.
You know, just run of the mill stuff.
Our personal guess? The teaser of the woman (Lady Gaga?) with the friendly neighborhood millipede making its home on her scalp is the authentic teaser. Not only is it the only clip to feature an actual member of the cast, it’s also the teaser most unrelated to previous seasons.
But there is a catch. If one mysterious new Twitter account is right, Landgraf was actually wrong: While some of the teasers released were indeed fakes placed to divert us from the truth, multiple (not only one) were actually authentic. The rest were what? Allusions to previous seasons.
The account, AHS6LEAK, joined Twitter August 4 and has since set the site aflame with extremely detailed tidbits about upcoming season 6. Not only do they claim Lady Gaga is formidable monster “Croatoan,” but that she uses millipedes and other creepy crawlies to do her evil bidding.
Granted, the teaser in question released prior to AHS6LEAK’s tweet; they could be pulling our chains based on what they’ve already seen. But we must admit that the alleged spoilers add up.
Though the tweet now seems to have been deleted, AHS6LEAK has also referenced Glee’s relation to their youth — a statement that American Horror Story and Glee creator Ryan Murphy has also made in past interviews.
They also claim a big reveal is set for Monday, August 15.
So IDK. Friend or falsey foe? You be the judge. Either way, we’ll find out when AHS season 6 premieres on FX September 14.
