We already said it yesterday, but we’ll say it again — WOW!
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens awoke a slumbering holiday box office in the BIGGEST way this weekend, setting all-time records for the film industry, and the numbers are crazy!
The film broke literally every major box office record there is to hold, and in the process set themselves apart by totaling $238 million over its opening weekend.
That is $30 million more than the previous record-holder, Jurassic World, and some estimates say by the end of Sunday the total could be even higher still!
Rentrak media analyst Paul Dergarabedian, who tracks box office numbers, told USA TODAY:
“We’re in territory that we’ve never seen in December. The enormity of this record-breaking weekend cannot be overstated. This is a true watershed event. I don’t have enough adjectives in my arsenal to describe how massive this is.”
Again… we’ll go back to what we said on Saturday… WOW!!!
We can only imagine what this film will end up grossing after another few weeks out in theaters, especially with all the repeat viewings that are sure to take place.
Did U see it yet?!
