Varsity Blues star Ron Lester has passed away at the age of 45.
The actor, best known as the 1999 dramedy’s Billy Bob, also made appearances on Freaks & Geeks, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, CSI: NY, and was in the process of filming crime drama Bomb City at the time of his death.
On Friday, the actor’s agent Dave Bradley confirmed he’d passed away at a Texas hospital after being taken off life support. He had reportedly been in “failing health” for some time, both his liver and kidneys failing.
According to ET, he was able to pass well “as he was medicated enough to be able to go peacefully.”
Two years after appearing on Blues, a more than 500 pound Lester underwent gastric bypass surgery, resulting in a nearly unrecognizably lithe figure.
No matter what, Lester will always be known as film’s favorite lineman.
