Vin Diesel is still coping with Paul Walker‘s death.

On Thursday, the 49-year-old had a bittersweet experience while at Brazil Comic-Con as this appearance reminded him of the passing of his The Fast and the Furious costar. Poor guy!

During a candid chat with Entertainment Tonight, the Hollywood hunk revealed he and the rest of the Fast franchise cast have definitely “felt the loss” and added:

“The last three years have been some of the hardest of my life because of losing my brother like that.”

So sad. Not to mention, being abroad without the late El Lay native has been pretty hard on Vin as he continued:

“I’d been to Brazil two times before and both times that I’ve been here, I’ve always been with my brother, Pablo [Paul’s nickname]. Even if I talked on ET in Brazil or any talk show, any press or while we were filming in the favelas, it was Pablo and me. It was a lot of tissues and it was a hard morning for me yesterday because I was here. But the irony is the whole cast reached out and his daughter, Meadow, reached out and all that stuff helps you get through it.”

Well that’s good to hear! Of course, this poignant interview comes shortly after the third anniversary of Walker’s tragic death — so we can’t really blame Vin for feeling emotional.

Nonetheless, the action star was able to distract himself with the filming of xXx: Return of Xander Cage. He shared:

“Making this movie came after a very difficult time making Furious 7, and so never in my life did I need to do a movie where I could laugh and smile and enjoy myself more than right now, more than the time I made this movie. I needed to do this movie and I’m so blessed that I had the opportunity to make a movie, not to have to do a brooding character, not to have to go to a dark place.”

Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before the A-lister was back in a dark place as his character for Fast 8 is apparently going through a hard time. Vin explained:

“The irony is, right after doing this, of course, I went to do Fast 8 and Fast 8was a very dark place and the darkest place Dom’s ever been. So it was important for me, for my soul and for my family and for all the people that love me, for me to do xXx and for me to enjoy myself the way that I did.”

Perhaps this why Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson were butting heads on set? Who knows.

We hope 2017 is a better year for Vin emotionally. Our thoughts are with you, buddy!
