Was Donald Trump just “fired”?
On Saturday, the Celebrity Apprentice star claimed that he fired his campaign strategist Roger Stone. However, the political expert quickly defended that he was NOT axed by the real estate mogul. Huh?!
In fact, Stone revealed that he was the one who let the controversial celeb go!
Initially, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign stated on CNN:
“Mr. Trump fired Roger Stone last night. We have a tremendously successful campaign and Roger wanted to use the campaign for his own personal publicity. He has had a number of articles about him recently and Mr. Trump wants to keep the focus of the campaign on how to Make America Great Again.”
Those are certainly fighting words!
Within minutes of the announcement, the strategist took to Twitter to clarify his side of the story:
Hmm, very inneresting.
ICYMI: The billionaire made headlines again after making derogatory remarks about Fox News correspondent Megyn Kelly following last week’s GOP debate.
Stone also appeared on the TV program to explain his exit from the highly talked about campaign.
“I have nothing but admiration and respect for Donald Trump. I resigned largely because I thought I was having no impact and the campaign has been diverted from those big picture issues that catapulted Trump to the No. 1 position in the polls, which I thought was counterproductive.”
Whoa! Talk about an honest answer.
The political advisor was certainly offended by the notion that he was working with Trump merely for publicity.
He concluded on the social media site:
It’ll be inneresting to see where the 69-year-old’s campaign goes from here — especially as it has been riddled with so much controversy.
We guess only time will tell!
