We Might Just Die of Happiness If Hodor Makes a Grand Return to 'Game of Thrones'
HBO

Those tricky tricksters over at HBO are pulling at our heartstrings with a recent teaser featuring none other than Kristian Nairn. Nairn, AKA Hodor the loyal, beastly, and most prolific of door holders, differs from the other actors seen in the ad, as his character is the only GoT star appearing who is dead.

…or IS he?

Last we saw Hodor, (pause for minor spoilers warning — if you’re not caught up on the last season, you probably don’t want to read this) he sacrificed himself in order to allow Bran and Meera to escape from the White Walkers. Holding the door at the back of the Three-Eyed Raven’s cave between the Walkers, himself, and Bran, a flashback scene finally revealed why Hodor was Hodor. His whole life, from the time he was a child, had been meant for this moment, when he’d protect Bran, allowing the boy to become the new Three-Eyed Raven and potentially saving the world.

It was arguably the roughest scene of Season 6.

The possibility of a Hodor reemergence is all the more interesting considering that Hodor is probably not dead dead. When attacked by a White Walker, you tend to turn into one yourself — more specifically, a wight. This teaser might just confirm the idea that Hodor will show up in upcoming Season 7 as “White Walker” Hodor.

Check out the trailer below — it also features the hilarious John Oliver — and let us know what you make of it.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on HBO July 16, 2017.
